The system to get the data transferred to the needles. At the left side the springs are visible. At the right side you can see the plates. In the mirror while moving the carriage, the plates can be seen moving.

Calibrating the selected needle
trouble shooting Posted on Thu, June 23, 2016 13:00:03Problem: In KC position the carriage was pushed up. The needle was not set or released at the right time, resulting in wrong position.
Cause: after long use the solenoid casing needed oiling. Selecting the needles was asking too much force. the timer belt was exposed to too much force. After putting oil in, the needles functioned again, but the callibration was wrong.
Solution: at the right wheel for the timer belt there is on the axis a small metal half moon shaped stopper. Get this of and the wheel can be pushed up. This makes it slip over the cog wheel on the solenoid axis. By slipping it a position and check, you end up selected the needles again in the right way.
Keywords: KH-940, timer belt, rotary encoder, needle selection, callibration.

Selection of needles problem
trouble shooting Posted on Thu, June 23, 2016 12:42:34After lot’s of knitting with the memory (Teensy3.1) the setting of needles was becoming heavy, difficult, impossible.
Problem: putting oil in the solenoids casing.
Solution: WD40, spraying in this casing.
Problem resulting from the needles getting more and more difficult:
the setting of the needle, pushing it down at the right moment was lost.
The carriage was pushed up.
Solution: see post about callibrating the solenoid position.

KH-940 with electronics inside
electronics Posted on Tue, May 10, 2016 18:35:00After months of this situation:
Finally:
With IR remote, LCD screen, a connection to the Neopixel LEDstrip, and wires to a free analog PIN, for connecting a sensor.
The laptop can be connected sending images (my own software).
Stand alone: some of the KH-940 patterns are already inside, more wil be uploaded.
